Construction and Renovation Updates

Levan Hall, Summer 2009
Preparation for the construction of Levan Hall, which will house the St. John’s College Graduate Institute, is moving forward, staying pretty close to the original schedule with just a few hiccups expected in this type of large project.

The bridge between the Fine Arts Building and Peterson Student Center is down, and the “land bridge” between FAB and Weigle Hall is in the process of being removed.  Jackhammers and bulldozers are removing concrete from both paths and the wall between the site and the fishpond. General excavation is ongoing. 

Work in and near the parking lots south of Weigle Hall is expected to begin on Monday June 8.  This part of the project involves, in part, adjusting the driveway down so emergency vehicles can pass through. 

Due to this project, there will be no water and gas in the Fine Arts Building through the month of June.

Please keep an eye out for designated walkways and be respectful of the construction boundaries, which are blocked off by fencing.  Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.  Levan Hall will be built as a LEED Silver Certified Building, located between the Fine Arts Building and Weigle Hall.

Library Re-Carpeting

Here are a few more library carpet photos. The main atrium area on the first floor is done and most of the upstairs walkway is complete, along with room 202. The next few days we’ll be moving furniture and shelving to access the areas that have not yet been re-carpeted.
