Construction and Renovation Updates
July 21, 2009
The Betty and Norman Levan Hall, Summer 2009
Excavation is pretty well complete, and the current digging work is the trenching for all of the utilities. As this is completed, little bits of rock may be found, but should be removable with a jack-hammer.
Next week will include work on the water retention cistern that will be located behind the building site, as well as laying re-bar to prepare for the pouring of the footings the following week.
The re-direction of the entry road has been marked and will begin around Thursday July 23. This project will involve ripping up the asphalt, pouring dirt, and putting in a new curb (where you turn right into campus and Camino Cruz Blanca runs up towards Wilderness Gate). There may be some slight traffic delays in the case that a one-way is necessary.
Hot water has been returned to all buildings, except the Fine Arts Building, which continues to lack water altogether. As the above re-trenching moves forward, water will be turned back on in FAB, hopefully by the end of next week.
Construction hours are 7:00a-3:30p, Monday through Friday.
Please keep an eye out for designated walkways and be respectful of the construction boundaries, which are blocked off by fencing. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available. Levan Hall will be built as a LEED Silver Certified Building, located between the Fine Arts Building and Weigle Hall.
