Glen Workshop

Summer 2010 Information Coming Soon

St. John's College is very happy to welcome the Glen Workshop back to campus for the tenth consecutive summer! This conference offers morning classes in writing and art with afternoon presentations by the faculty. Each evening concludes with an ecumenical worship service that also incorporates the arts. For more information regarding registration and conference details, please contact the Glen Workshop.

Information for Glen Workshop Participants
As there are so many components to this conference, individuals will be meeting in several different locations depending on the class they select. The Great Hall, located on the second floor of Peterson Student Center (#1 on the campus map), will be home base for registration, afternoon and evening gatherings, and questions. Most writing and poetry classes will take place in Santa Fe Hall (SFH) (#11) and Meem Library (ML) (#6), both of which are just a minute or so walk from Peterson. Songwriting and one of the mixed media classes will be in the Fine Arts Building (FAB)* (#8), and the other mixed media classes will take place in Evans Science Laboratory (ESL; #10) and the Upper Common Room (#24), which is just outside the center of campus in the Upper Dorm Area.

Glen Workshop participants will be housed throughout campus in the upper and lower dorm areas, as well as the suites and apartments. Calliope (#25), and Urania (#35) are in the lower dorm area and consist primarily of single dorm rooms. These dorms are slightly downhill from Peterson Student Center, just a minute or two walk. St. John's College students, as well as interns from Santa Fe Institute will also be residing in the lower dorm area. The upper dorms, Meem, Driscoll, Huffman, Anderson, Wagner, and Jones (#'s 13, 14, 18, 19, 22, & 23) have semi-private double rooms, triple rooms, and also a few single rooms. Upper dorms Kirby and Murchison (#16-17) have single dorm rooms as well as some one-room double rooms. These dorms are located uphill from Peterson Student Center, about a three to four minute walk. The suites are also situated in the upper part of campus, just beyond the upper dorm area. Each suite floor has five single bedrooms, a common living area, and a large bathroom. Suites One, Two (second floor only), Three (first floor only), Four  and Five (#'s 43,42, 39 & 40-41) are reserved for participants and faculty. Several two-bedroom apartments will also be used (#'s 44-46). All housing includes three meals a day in the Dining Hall.

Also check Accommodations.

*Construction note for FAB and ML: please note that the college is undergoing a construction project between FAB and Weigle Hall (tower building).  The ML Placita will be used as a staging area and there will be vehicular traffic behind and around FAB.  Please pardon our noise, observe all construction boundaries, and see our construction updates page for ongoing information.
