What types of conference groups usually come to St. John's?
St. John's College attracts a variety of primarily academic conference groups whose studies are connected to the college's Great Books curriculum. For example, the college provides space for conferences that focus on such subjects as physics, mathematics, cosmology, English, music and philosophy.
How many people can the largest room at St. John's College accommodate?
The Great Hall, on the second floor of Peterson Student Center, seats about 220 people lecture style. This room is approximately 2000 square feet and has a large balcony. Please see our virtual tour for photographs of this room.
Are sleeping accommodations available for rent year-round?
The summer conference season begins in early June and runs through mid-August. Dorm and suite rooms, and apartments, are available for conference groups to rent during this time.
Are meeting rooms available for rent year-round?
Generally, meeting rooms are rented out during the summer months as part of residential conferences. Due to a growing and very active student body, meeting room space during the academic year is a little harder to come by, yet may be available. Please feel free to contact us with specific date inquiries.
What is the minimum number of people that can participate in a conference at St. John's College?
Summer conference groups must pay the room and board fee for at least twenty people.
Does the college have athletic facilities that are open to conference guests?
Yes! The college's Student Activities Center has a weight room, racquetball courts, and a large gym. Nearby
are tennis courts, a soccer field, and a dirt track. Passes to the SAC are sold at the front desk of the SAC for a
minimal fee. Group rates may be available.
What sort of catering options are there at St. John's?
Aramark Food Service manages the college's dining hall and coffee shop and also offers full catering services. Conferences can choose from a complete menu, including bar set ups, and can create alternative menu options by request. Outside catering is not allowed on campus.
Does St. John's offer discounts to non-profit organizations?
St. John's College welcomes letters of request from non-profit organizations for free or reduced rate meeting space on campus. Such a letter should include the name of the organization, basic information about the organization, the date of the event, needs for the event (tables, chairs, a/v, catering, etc.), number of people attending, and the contact person. This letter should be sent to the Director of Conference Services; St. John's College; 1160 Camino Cruz Blanca; Santa Fe, NM 87505 or confserv@sjcsf.edu. A small committee will review the request as soon as possible. |
